GREE - Geomechanics Research for Energy and the Environment
The Geomechanics Research for Energy and the Environment (GREE) group is working on engineering problems related to energy (hydrocarbon exploitation) and energy transition (CO2 geological storage and enhanced geothermal systems) and on subsurface environmental problems (groundwater resources and ground pollution). These applications are characterized by coupled physical processes such as time-dependent thermo-hydro-mechanical ones which may include changes in the geometry as well. The research work aims at understanding of the involved processes, to express them in mathematical models and to develop efficient computational techniques for the solution of such problems. GREE is led by Prof. Panos Papanastasiou.
