Research Pillar 3 - Socioeconomic Analysis for Water-Related Issues

Recognizing the need to complement the scientific/engineering research on water resources with research on socioeconomic strategies, Nireas-IWRC intends to invest heavily in shaping and strengthening the socioeconomic and behavioral aspects of sustainable water resource utilization.

To that extent Nireas-IWRC will host, among others, research activities on organizational/human behavior and the natural environment, environmental strategies, social networks, industrial ecology and socioeconomic incentives for (and impacts of) sustainable water management strategies.

Sample projects: (1) The “value of water”, water-pricing, water transfers and the efficient allocation of scarce water, (2) “water-footprints”, and (3) environmental stakeholders and water management policies.
