3rd Announcement
Novel Methods for Integrated Exploitation of Agricultural by-Products
16-18 November, 2015
Thessaloniki, Greece

Scope
Solid residues, sludges and effluents from processing fruits (peaches, grapes, oranges, pomegranate, etc.) and other agricultural and natural products (olive, tomato etc.) contain various compounds, some of them of great dietary and commercial value, which usually remain unexploited and become sources of serious environmental pollution.

However, in the past two decades, significant progress has been made in the development of various novel types of methods; e.g. membrane technology, bio-technological methods, advanced oxidation processes, etc. These methods, or combinations thereof, allow the integrated treatment of natural by-products as well as of related polluting effluents toward the recovery of marketable products and/or energy, and of clean water for reuse, thus effectively achieving environmental protection and sustainability.
